Glucophage (metformin) is an oral diabetes medicine that helps control blood sugar levels. Glucophage is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glucophage is sometimes used together with insulin or other medications, but metformin is not for treating type 1 diabetes. It is the first-line medication for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, particularly in people who are overweight. It is also used in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome. It is not associated with weight gain. It is taken by mouth. Metformin should be taken with meals to help reduce stomach or bowel side effects that may occur during the first few weeks of treatment. Swallow the tablet or extended-release tablet whole with a full glass of water.

Glucagon for Injection is a polypeptide hormone identical to human Glucagon that increases blood glucose and relaxes smooth muscle of the gastrointestinal tract. Glucagon is synthesized in a special non-pathogenic laboratory strain of Escherichia coli bacteria that has been genetically altered by the addition of the gene for Glucagon. Glucagon is available for use intravenously, intramuscularly, or subcutaneously in a kit that contains a vial of sterile Glucagon and a syringe of sterile diluent. The vial contains 1 mg of Glucagon and 49 mg of lactose. Hydrochloric acid may have been added during manufacture to adjust the pH of the Glucagon. One International Unit of Glucagon is equivalent to 1 mg of Glucagon. The diluent syringe contains 12 mg/mL of glycerin, Water For Injection, and hydrochloric acid.

Glipizide is an oral diabetes medicine that helps control blood sugar levels by helping your pancreas produce insulin. Glipizide is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glipizide is not for treating type 1 diabetes. Take glipizide exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Take the regular tablet 30 minutes before your first meal of the day. Take the glipizide extended-release tablet with your first meal of the day. Swallow the tablet whole and do not crush, chew, or break it.

Glimepiride is an oral diabetes medicine that is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. glimepiride is not for treating type 1 diabetes. Glimepiride may increase your risk of serious heart problems, but not treating your diabetes can also damage your heart and other organs. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of glimepiride. Medications similar to glimepiride have caused severe hypoglycemia in newborn babies whose mothers used the medicine near the time of delivery. If you take glimepiride during pregnancy, stop taking this medicine at least 2 weeks before your due date. If you breastfeed while taking glimepiride, call your doctor if your baby shows signs of hypoglycemia (extreme drowsiness, feeding problems, mottled skin, blue lips, feeling cold or jittery, or having a seizure).

Gleevec (imatinib) interferes with the growth of some cancer cells. Gleevec is used to treat certain types of leukemia (blood cancer), bone marrow disorders, and skin cancer. Gleevec is also used to treat certain tumors of the stomach and digestive system. Gleevec can lower blood cells that help your body fight infections and help your blood to clot. You may get an infection or bleed more easily. Call your doctor if you have unusual bruising or bleeding, or signs of infection (fever, chills, body aches). Gleevec may increase the risk of liver problems. Tell your doctor if you have upper stomach pain, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).

Ginseng is an herb also known as Anchi Ginseng, Baie Rouge, Canadian Ginseng, Ginseng à Cinq Folioles, Ginseng Américain, Ginseng Americano, Ginseng Root, North American Ginseng, Occidental Ginseng, Ontario Ginseng, Panax Quinquefolia, Racine de Ginseng, Red Berry, Ren Shen, Sang, Shang, Shi Yang Seng, Xi Yang Shen and other names. Ginseng has been used in alternative medicine as a possibly effective aid in lowering blood sugar after a meal in patients with diabetes type 2, and for respiratory infections. Ginseng has also been used to improve athletic performance. However, research has shown that ginseng may not be effective in treating this condition. Gilenya (fingolimod) is an immunosuppressant. It works by keeping immune cells trapped in your lymph nodes so they can’t reach the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). Gilenya is used to treat relapsing multiple sclerosis (MS) in adults, and children and adolescents aged 10 years and older. Gilenya will not cure MS, it will only decrease the frequency of relapse symptoms. This includes severe heart failure, “AV block,” sick sinus syndrome (unless you have a pacemaker), taking certain heart rhythm medicines, or a recent heart attack, stroke, chest pain, or other serious heart problem. Fingolimod can slow your heart rate.

Geodon (ziprasidone) is an antipsychotic medication. It works by changing the effects of chemicals in the brain. Geodon is used to treat schizophrenia and the manic symptoms of bipolar disorder (manic depression) in adults and children who are at least 10 years old. It is available as an oral (by mouth) treatment as an injection. Geodon if you are allergic to ziprasidone, or if you have: a heart rhythm disorder; a personal or family history of long QT syndrome; uncontrolled or untreated heart failure; or if you have recently had a heart attack. Geodon is not approved for use in psychotic conditions related to dementia. Geodon may increase the risk of death in older adults with dementia-related conditions.

Genvoya is a tablet containing a combination of cobicistat, elvitegravir, emtricitabine, and tenofovir. Cobicistat reduces the action of enzymes in your liver that break down certain antiviral medicines. This allows the antiviral medicines to be used more safely and effectively at lower doses. Elvitegravir, emtricitabine and tenofovir are antiviral medicines that prevent human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) from multiplying in your body. HIV can cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Genvoya is used to treat HIV in adults and children who are at least 12 years old and who weigh at least 55 pounds (25 kilograms). Genvoya is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.
